The Tuscan doctor Cinquini nicknamed doctor Cannabis, was acquitted for the umpteenth time, because he did not grow cannabis to get rich but rather to help people!
This story seems to be incredible but actually this Tuscan doctor has been claiming for years that cannabis can cure many diseases some of which also very serious.
Lets start by understanding who he is & how has he come up with this theory, that he so strongly sustains to have obtained the first ever authorised cultivation of medical cannabis in Tuscany.
The surgeon got first in contact with medical cannabis during his military placement in Sardegna, already holding a rank in the health section, he decided to cure with indian hemp a girl in a very advanced state of anorexia & managing to bring her back to normal nutritional level. At the age of 34 Cinquini got hepatitis C, during an urgent operation on board an ambulance & after months of chemio he decided to cure himself with hemp, aloe & papaya, this complete nutritional project brought back his antibodies to normal levels in no time resulting in a complete recovery in a very short period of time. From that moment on the doctor founded many associations & participated in events all over the world always creating a lot of controversy in Italy, he also reported himself to the authorities in order to draw attention towards what he believes is a principle able to replace & substitues the majority of medicines & that is opposed to only for political & economical matters not bothering about the interests of the sick patients, at least this is what the famous doctor Cinquini believes, he works to a fro Tuscany & the commmunity of Valencia, Spain, where it is also illegal to grow cannabis.
But why Cinquini and also many other doctors & scientists like him continue their pro-cannabis battle? What can this plant really do?
In reality although its a source of constant research, very little is known about this plant’s potential, certainly in Italy it is only legal to grow the one used for agricultural purposes, unless it is otherwise authorised by the government like in Tuscany, currently some pathologies for which the plant may be useful have already been identified & these are:
- HEADACHE & PERIOD PAINS : One of the main pharmacological actions of Thc (the active principle found in cannabis) on the brain is to reduce the sensitivity to pain, hence it is useful as an analgesic for migraine or period pains, (the Thc has a muscle relaxant function that relaxes the muscles, therefore it helps also those who suffer from rheumatism)
- MUSCLE SPASMS: The cannabinoids have a relaxing & antispasmodic effect on the muscles, that means they help decontract our muscles, this results particularly effective in diseases like multiple sclerosis (it is already prescribed for this disease both in Switzerland & Great Britain.
- ASTHMA: The cannabinoids also help expand the bronchi making breathing easier, this could be useful for those suffering from Asthma, but at the moment they are still working on the assumption method for this use.
- GLAUCOMA: Is a serious eyesight problem, characterised by the increase in pressure inside the eyes, in this case the Thc seems be useful since it is able of reducing the internal pressure.
- DEADEN CHEMIOTHERAPY SYMPTOMS; like for example nausea & vomiting. Chemiotherapy consisting of a mixture of cures with a base of chemical medicines that are used to fight tumors, has various side effects which very often are very disturbing & hassling for patients, hence in this case cannabis could give relief from these disturbances.
- NEURODEGENERATIVE DISORDERS: Alzehimer’s disease, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s chorea, are all diseases that cause the degeneration of the nervous cells, recent studies held out by international scholars, highlighted that the cannabidiol, a non psychoactive component of cannabis, helps protect the brain cells, it practically acts as an antioxidant, fighting neuron ageing & death.
In many foreign countries it is already considered as a medication & is regularly prescribed, in Italy instead the regulation number 309 of the 19th October 1990 clearly indicates that allopathic medicines that use cannabis indica are not available for sale although this is also present in certain homeopathic medicines but in minimum dosage (measured in nanograms meaning a billionth of a gram) found for sale normally in stores..
In the U.S.A. Israel, Germany, Great Britain & Netherlands there are already 2 types of synthetic cannabinoids existant: dronabinol & nabilone. Sold behind medical prescription to cure the side effects caused by chemiotherapy & to stimulate appetite in those suffering from Aids, there is also constant experimentation going on for multiple sclerosis & other disorders.
