Very often we don’t even realise what we put at table, besides paying attention to chooose the right foods, & cooking them in a healthy way, we must also be careful with the dressings we use, because without noticing we increase the caloric value & also the fat content of our dishes. Infact many people don’t know how harmful it could be for our waistline “adding taste” to our dishes, that is adding just that little extra salt or oil. There is no need to exaggerate, but just choose the right dressings & sometimes even dare, there are many tasty spices that do not contain the contraindications of salt, & there are also many other dressings that we can use in our dishes without causing an harm at all. Here are a few:
- MUSTARD (mustard with no doubt the best solution for sauce lovers, creamy but light at the same time, it became famous from the 2 French localities Burgundy & Dijon, it has a very low calorie content, every 100g contains only 66 calories, compared to the 400 of mayonnaise, the taste is very good with meat, eggs & potatoes).
- MISO (originating from Japan is a valid alternative to broth cube. It is obtained from the fermentation of soybeans, its without fat & is able to regulate cholesterol levels, it is a prebiotic food, meaning it feeds the intestinal flora. It is rich in vitamins, enzymes, trace elements & vegetable protein. It is used the same way as a broth cube).
- CITRONETTE (This delicate dressing has French origins, & is prepared either using oil & salt or citrus fruits. It is ideal for fish & meat carpaccios).
- GOMASIO (is a mixture of sesame seeds & Nori algae, typical in oriental cuisine, it helps you feel satiated & helps absorb less fats; it is rich in omega 3 & 6, minerals, protein & fibre. It could be used in any dish especially with vegetables).
- HORSERADISH SAUCE (horseradish is a low calorie ingredient that is used in any type of weightloss mealplan. It is very rich in fibres & has a slightly hot taste, this sauce is widely used in Austria, Hungary & in the Italian Noth east regions. It is used with boiled meat, fish & eggs).
- UMEBOSHI (umeboshi are a type of prune found in China & Japan, they are coming to Europe by the name of miracle prunes, because the purify our organism, invigorate our & help our intestinal tract feel better. From the fermentation of these prunes we obtain an acidulated that substitutes both salt & vinegar & contains only 22 calories every 100ml. It could be used on any dish).
