Parasitic Kidney dieseases (worms) are very rare nowadays, they might be slightlyy less rare in tropical & subtropical climates.  The main parasitic kidney dieseases are:  Renal echinococcosis, strongylosis & Filariasis.

Renal Echinococcosis

Cystic echinococcosis is very rare nowadays but can be more frequent in tropical & subtropical climates, this type of diesease is caused by, accidentally swallowing the eggs of the echinococcus granulosus tapeworm, through contact with infected animals (dogs, sheep, cattle to mention a few), ingestion of water, soil & vegetables contaminated with infected dog feces.

Strongylosis

Strongylosis in kindneys is caused by the eustrongylus gigas (threadworm) & is very rare in our climates, it clinically causes pain,  haematuria, kidney stone formation, just to mention a few  the female type of this worm can be up to 1 metre long & can only be removed with surgery by removing the damaged kidney.

Filariasis  (Heartworm)

Even this parasitic kidney diesease is very rare in our regions, the Wuchereira bancrofti is a roundworm & the major cause of lymphatic filariasis, this type of worm is spread by a mosquito vector primarily in central Africa & the Nile delta, South & central America & the tropical regions of Asia.
