What is vitamin B1 & why is it important?
Thiamine also known as vitamin B1 is one of the nutrients from the vitamin B family essential for generating energy metabolism. Thiamine supplements are an excellent medical therapy for people suffering from immunodeficiency dieseases such as AIDS & alcoholism, it is also efficient in treating kidney disorders.
How much is the DV?
The DV for thiamine calculated on a 2000 calorie diet is 1.5mg, no negative effects have been encountered through higher or excessive consumption. To reduce the risk of cataract it is suggested to consume regularly about 10mg of Thiamine.
