HOW TO TREAT STRETCH MARKS!

Stretch Marks; red, white, old, new, what are they and how do we get rid of them!

Stretch Marks despite being a unisex problem are for the most part an unaesthetic issue in women.
The are present as linear bands of a maximum thickness of 4-5 millimeters, that in the being are purple-red in colour that, with the passing of time, become white.

Why are they formed and how do we treat stretch marks?
The stretch marks are formed by the damaging of the elastic fibres (fibrillina, collagen and elastin) present in the skin layer called the dermis.
The damage can be caused by multiple causes combined together but let us see what are the major risk factors and how to treat stretch marks:

  •   The hormonal factors (estrogens, relaxin, corticosteroid hormones), which cause a slowing down of the activity of the fibroblasts, cells of the dermis that are responsible for the production of elastic fibres, and the consequent impoverishment of the support structure of the skin.
  •  Mechanical stretching, such as abrupt changes in weight or in shape of the body
  • The intense muscular activity that can cause lacerations in the deep layers of the skin, that is unable to adapt to the sudden changes.
  • Being part of the Caucasian ethnicity increases the risk of the appearance of stretch marks.

The best strategy against stretch marks is absolutely prevention and it is good therefore to begin from adolescence to take care of stretch marks. If there is in fact a predisposition, it is good that the adolescent will soon start to take the habit of applying a specific cream against stretch marks on the skin everyday.  This rule also applies especially during pregnancy.  Pregnancy is one of the major risk factors and in fact the profound hormonal changes of pregnancy and the fast change of the body severely test the adaptability of the skin.

During pregnancy the breast increases its volume even up to two and a half times its normal and the abdomen grows even up to four times and it is therefore clear of what type of quick change there is .

We must therefore prevent with special creams that besides being useful for prevention, are also effective on freshly formed stretch marks, when these are still red.

HOW TO TREAT STRETCH MARKS

In addition to using specific treatments such as creams precisely, it is also appropriate to observe a few simple rules:

– Do not put on too much weight (during pregnancy for example you should put on at most 12 kilos),

– Eat healthy to provide the skin with all the substances it needs to remain elastic (animal protein, vitamin A, C and E),

-Drink at least two litres of water per day

– Do some sort of physical activity on a regular basis

– Yoga helps a lot thanks to the fact that it helps to be more flexible and elastic and therefore the skin keeps itself younger.

Treating stretch marks is therefore a constant activity and only in this way can we obtain results.
