Menopause: beat the symptoms with a diet!
Beat the symptoms of menopause with a diet rich in estrogen & anti-oxidants!
Menopause is a phase of life each and every woman goes through, it is a very delicate phase accompanied by many changes both physical & mental. A correct & balanced diet could help us live better this change.
It is not a disease but a phase of life that requires a correct strategy to go through it in the best of ways & control the most common symptoms such as:
- hot flushes
- excessive sweating
- palpitations
- articular pain
- vaginal dryness
- anxiety & depression
We must also modify our lifestyle but especially our diet. Smoking is one of the habits that must be immediately stopped also because it anticipates the menopause symptoms by a few years. We must do regular physical activity that helps strengthen our bones & produce endorphins that improve our mood & keep depression away. Our daily diet & nutrition is fundamental, since hot flushes, vaginal dryness & difficulty in concentration seem to worsen in women who consume regularly:
-simple sugars
-red meat & preserved meats
-oily cheese
-preserved foods
-alcohol
-refined cereals
furthermore even our skin tends to age prematurely & our bones weaken too.
SYMPTOMS CAUSES
Menopause does not exactly arrive suddenly but starts manifesting itself in a period between 5 to 10 years, at the age of 30-35 our fertility begins its reduction through irregular periods & if at the age of 40 our menstruation period ends than we are talking about premature menopause, since we usually reach menopause at the age of 50-51. During menopause we have a reduction of estrogen, that are the main cause of all the symptoms. Estrogens are hormones produced by the ovaries, adrenal glands & adipose tissue, they guarantee a development of all the female characteristics like, healthy bones, memory function, blood vessel elasticity, help produce “good” cholesterol (HDL) & reduce “bad” cholesterol (LDL), that is why during menopause some women could have an increase in cholesterol due to less artery elasticity & this could also lead too high blood pressure. That is why it is fundamental to keep our diet monitored and understand which foods to avoid & which to prefer.
