Cure sciatica with natural remedies!

The sciatica is an annoying ailment that can be alleviated even with natural remedies.

What is the Sciatica

The sciatica is an inflammation of the sciatic nerve which runs through the lower limb starting from the lower part of the spine, passing through the gluteus, and arriving to the underneath of the foot. The largest Symptom is a pain which may either involve only a single part or the entire leg with acute pain, discomfort, tingling, numbness, weakness, cramps and even back pain in the lumbar area.

This type of inflammation often can be caused by a bad sitting posture and from too much sedentary lifestyle, or may arise during pregnancy, because the uterus compresses the nerve itself. But there are also other causes such as:

– traumas to the lower limbs,

– the presence of hernia in the lumbar vertebrae disc

– or the pyriform syndrome.

In any case before auto-diagnosing yourself sciatica it is recommended to visit your doctor and then perhaps alleviate the symptoms with some natural but effective remedy.

Natural remedies to fight Sciatica

There are various remedies but in case of sciatica due to trauma The best thing to do is definitely cold wraps in order to decrease the pain quickly. You can then switch to hot wraps to soothe. An alternation between cold and hot wraps can certainly improve the whole symptomatology, reduce inflammation, improving the blood and lymphatic circulation.

Locally and directly on the affected part, you can make wraps from green clay, (you must mix it with hot water, until you obtain a cream then let it dry, so as to absorb the toxins and moisture) or even wraps made with coarse salt heated in a frying pan and then put in a towel or cloth, to be applied directly on the painful area, this wrap helps to remove the inflammation and alleviate the discomfort.

Also ointments made from arnica or devil’s claw are excellent in relieving pain. Both have an antiinflammatory and analgesic action.  Massage gently until the cream is completely absorbed this will help reduce the pain.

Also the Ribes nigrum, may be used as a subsitute to cortisone based analgesics or drugs due to its painkilling, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

How to prevent sciatica and how to improve the symptomatology

We have already said that sometimes the sciatica is due to a bad posture or too much sedentary lifestyle, in both of these cases it is necessary to change our incorrect habits and therefore we must avoid:

  •  Sitting for too long,  but get up more often, at least every half hour, trying to move as much as possible during the day.
  • When you are seated, your bust must be laid correctly to the backrest of the chair, keeping your neck aligned to the vertebral column, in order to avoid bulging/sagging.
  • Use a lectern to read paper documents and keep your eyes on the centre of the computer screen.
  • If your stay on your feet, every so often try to rest your feet on a rise.

In general, it is better to dedicate yourselves to light/soft sports or targeted stretching, yoga certainly does well together with a particular attention not to lift weights.
