HOW WE SHOULD EAT WHILE ON QUARANTINE
We are in a difficult situation also from the nutritional point of view and to remain in shape we must necessarily eat properly and we can do it by means of specific foods.
We must try to eliminate the products of animal origin and their derivatives, the excess of fibres, refined flour and slow-release complex sugars.
We must instead prefer foods of vegetable origin that give us a supply of vitamins, nutrients and other useful values in this specific period; let’s try some:
Banana: for its high content of magnesium. This precious mineral, by stimulating the production of serotonin, stabilizes the mood and hence reduces peaks of stress related to an overload of notifications, news and other digital stimuli.
Pistacchio: Such as dried fruit generally, gives a quick boost of energy without overloading. “Not everyone knows that consuming pistacchios (in reasonable doses) increases the level of antioxidants, which have a protective effect on cognitive health and on the circulatory system; even the latter is particularly put to test in this period in which the movement possibilities are limited and one tends to sit for the vast majority of the day
Cannellini: known as the meat of the poor, these nourishing and energizing legumes are an optimal expedient to prepare sweets capable to satisfy the palate by keeping under control the level of blood glucose. Cocoa which frees serotonin (the so-called mood hormone) and, vice-versa, keeping at bay the excess of adrenaline due to stress (from work and reclusion) Cauliflower, anti-aging and anti-tumor par excellence, properties which shares with the other vegetables of the same family (broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, turnips).
Carrots: universally known for their low caloric intake and for their high content of vitamins and beta-carotene. The latter is a precursor of vitamin A (or retinol), beneficial to the skin and eyes, constantly fatigued from the monitor of the PC and smartphone, avocado, has excellent elasticizing properties and ensures a high intake of fibre and monounsaturated fats.
We must remember that spending whole days inside in front of the computer lazens also the bowel/gut, which must be stimulated thanks to water, movement and fibres
