Fruit for slimming yes or no?

We keep on repeating how important fruit and vegetables are for us and as a healthy lifestyle implies we should eat about 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day, what we have not told you though is that certain fruits have properties that can help us lose weight.

Lets be clear, fruit contains fructose which is sugar and sugar is certainly not indicated for those suffering from diabetes or obesity, infact very often fruit is completely removed from the diets of certain people who have the necessity to remove sugar totally, this obviously those not go for everybody and this is why it is good to learn a bit more, especially that if not suffering from any particular disease or already in a serious stage of obesity than fruit must not be completely removed from our diet, however we can not even make an abuse of fruit and we must be well aware of what we are eating.

Ten fruits with beneficial properties:

  • Grapefruit: Grapefruit has a reduced calorie content and lots of water, it also has an action which promotes the sense of satiety for a longer time;
  • Avocado: Although it has quite a few calories and fat, avocado accelerates our metabolism stimulating the testosterone action, that acts optimizing the control of the glucose and insulin levels in the blood;
  • Apple:  The apple has a high fibre content giving us a longer sense of satiety, hence we tend not to eat more than supposed to;
  • Pear: Even the pear just like the apple has a high fibre content, especially in its peel leading to a prolonged sense of satiety.
  • Orange: Besides being very rich in vitamin C, oranges help in losing weight thanks to their poor calorie content only 40 for every 100g, and to their diuretic and purifying action;
  • Melon: Melon is rich in water and fibre and acts as a support in the removal of toxins;
  • Blueberries: Are very rich in anti-oxidants, help in the removal of toxins and improve blood circulation;
  • Pomegranate : Has a limited calorie content of only 52 for every 100g and an elevated content of vitamins and anti-oxidants, furthermore pomegranate seeds have also a light diuretic action;
  • Peach: Rich in fibre, anti-oxidants and vitamin C, only 39 calories per 100g and can be a great snack but also used in the famous “detox water” giving it a good taste and helping us drink more;
  • Lemon: Who hasn’t heard about the famous “water and lemon” in the morning, well yes it accelerates our metabolism and promotes energy consumption, moreover lemon contains pectin that reduces the nervous hunger feeling.

It is however important to always each fresh and seasonal fruit, therefore knowing what fruit is available and in season each month is fundamental it would be even better if it is organic, as we said before it is important to know what we are eating:
