The brain: how is this organ responsible for our memory function

Usually loss of memory or concentration is linked to age, but also other factors like; pollution, stress, or mood disorders could obstruct our mental activity.  The brain is a very complex organ and needs to be constantly stimulated & fed in order to function correctly.  The accumulation of toxins, polluted substances, medicines & food in our organism, in time starts to obstruct the correct blood flow required to function correctly and therefore our brain receives less nutrients & anti-oxidants.  Mother nature offers many different types of  herbs suitable for curing our memory, capable to improve blood flow to our brain, and therefore helping it receive the correct amount of nutrients required, keeping our mental concentration active & reducing stress & fatigue at the same time.

Memory boosting herbs

Lets begin with Bay Laurel also known as Bay leaves: Its essential oil is very handy especially for students with a bad memory or for who has problems on concentrating, because it stimulates our intellectual faculties.  To memorize better all that must be done is either put a drop of this oil on a tissue & inhale its aroma; or pour 4 to 5 drops in an aroma dispenser & let it spread all over the room you are in.

Other very effective natural aids are Basil & Rosemary, they give the brain more energy and increase concentration & attention.  These herbs are also excellent against fatigue; you can feel their effect by spreading the fumes from a few drops of their essential oils mixed together in your working environment.

Another great ally to our brain is Indian Ginseng (rennet plant).  Its main function is to modify the way our brain uses the acetylcholine, that is a substance which sends signs from one nervous cell to another and encourages correct brain function.  To have a better effect it is reccomended to use ginseng for periods ranging from a minimum of 15 days to a maximum of 3 months; it is also advisable not to take it at night time or before going to sleep especially if you suffer from insomnia.

Last but not least we find Maca, and thanks to its properties it increases our organism’s resistance towards stress, helping it adapt itself better to the internal & external changes we go through everyday.  The Maca root is  very rich in anti-oxidants & is normally found under the form of tablets.
