Potassium & water retention, find out how to lose weight!

Properties & benefits of potassium & its weight loss characteristics, it is the most effective mineral against water retention & to lose those extra kg.

Liquid retention, means retaining liquids in our organism, that is the water that should flow through stops & infiltrates in our tissue.  This way our tissue becomes swollen & heavy & the cells are not able to breath nor burn the fat contained anymore, therefore accumulating water us equal to accumulating extra kg.  If we want to lose weight the first thing we must do is find out if we suffer from water retention & cure it, this way we will lose weight & most of all the majorly interested areas such as, thighs, legs & hips will swell down, in this case potassium is the most ideal mineral.

To find out if you suffer from water retention, we must just look out for some signs our organism sends us like for example:

  • If our weight oscillates even by 500g from one day to another
  • If we wake up with our eyelids swollen
  • If we don’t get thirsty, water in excess does not make our brain ask for more water, but our tongue becomes white coated & we get a dry mouth feeling
  • If we pinch our leg skin at shin level & see a white sign
  • If we suffer from headache & feel tired very often

All these are symptoms of water retention & if you have at least 2 of these symptoms, than this is what you should do:

  • increase the consumption of foods containing potassium
  • reactivate blood flow to bring oxygen to body tissue
  • work on the lymphatic system to drain our organism

Potassium is able to release in a fast way our body from liquid in excess & contrasts damages caused by excessive salt.  The great part of potassium is found inside our cells, but this mineral is also present in our muscles that use it to burn calories.  Potassium keeps the right balance between the inner & outer parts of our cells, but the potassium provision must be constant, since our organism removes it through urine & its daily dose increases parallely to the physical activity or temperature rise.

Amongst the foods richest iin potassium we find:

-DEHYDRATED (DRIED) APRICOTS, 100g contain about 1260mg potassium, & they are also rich in group B vitamins & fibre, 2 or 3 per day are sufficient.

-BUCKWHEAT, is the cereal that contains the most, about 450mg for every 100g.

-WATERCRESS & ROCKET SALAD, watercress is very diuretic and contains about 600mg of potassium same as rocket salad which is also a powerful drainer.

-PAPRIKA & PARSLEY, salt is banned, therefore we must use other dressings to flavour our dishes, paprika obtained from chilli has the same characteristics but a more delicate flavour, & if used together with other herbs like parsley or sage it increases the potassium provision.
