Sugar free Orange cake recipe.

Healthy eating does not mean to sacrifice flavour or taste and these type of recipes want you to get to know this reality and above all make you change your mind on the fact that low fat recipes are not good at all… try it to believe it!

This recipe is suitable to all without obviously exaggerating.

Sugar free Orange cake recipe

There is no sugar but instead we add honey  a sweetener that is totally natural and rich in beneficial properties.

This cake is very simple to prepare and very tasty thanks to chocolate, cinnamon and orange, it is ideal for a healthy breakfast, rich in taste and flavour to be alternated or even as a snack together with a fine herbal tea.
– 300 gr of type 1 or wholegrain flour
-120 ml organic honey or the most natural possible
-3 eggs
-120 gr of butter
-60 gr of dark chocolate drops (at least 70% cocoa content)
-1 organic orange (rind and juice)
1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
1 sachet of baking powder for sweets

Wash the Orange, peel it without removing its white part.
Put the peel into a grinder and grind it transforming it into powder. Squeeze the orange and put the juice into a glass.
In the meantime, heat the oven to 180°, beat the eggs until obtaining a rather foamy compound, pour the soft butter and continue to stir.
Add the orange juice to the dough.
At this point mix the honey taking care to obtain a smooth, homogeneous compound especially without lumps.
Now pour the flour, the yeast, the cinnamon and the orange peel powder and mix well, finally add the dark chocolate drops.
Line a mold with greaseproof paper or if you prefer with butter and flour, pour the mixture and bake in the oven at 180° for 45 minutes.
To check the cake use the classic toothpick just tuck it in the cake, if  it comes out dry and clean you can cool, otherwise continue cooking for another 10 minutes.
Once cooled you can dust with some bitter cocoa, or with icing sugar, or else avoiding completely sugar you can eat it as it is.  It is very good and especially very healthy.

It does not contain sugar but honey and honey as you know is rich of benefits, this type of cake can also be consumed by diabetics but with extreme care, never exaggerate. For those who suffer from cholesterol, butter can be replaced with olive oil.
