Lowfat Kefir is an excellent choice for oral care, due to its concentration of calcium, lactic acid, probiotics, little sugar & vitamin D.  Probiotics are known to have numerous benefits for our health.  The probiotic called Lactobacillus found naturally in kefir helps prevent periodontal disorders.  Other types of friendly bacteria found help in reducing plaque & gum diesease.

Some studies show that those who consume little to no dairy products daily have a 20% higher risk of encountering periodontal dieseases if compared to those who eat a lot of dairy products.  Further more those who consume 2 or more Fermented dairy products daily such as natural yoghurt or kefir have less possibility of encountering Gum disorders that eventually cause tooth loss.

Capsicum (bell peppers)

Bell peppers, in particular red & green are very rich in vitamin C.  The active component inside this vitamin known as ascorbic acid is an antioxidant that helps all the cells in our body fight against enemies.  A study conducted by NHANES proved that the lower the level of ascorbic acid in our organism the higher was the possibility of suffering from periodontal diesease.

Quinoa

Quinoa is an extremely nourishing whole grain (cereal) rich in, folic acid, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, iron, fibre, protein, thiamine & vitamin B6.  Moreover, with regards to calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium & zinc, Quinoa is a better source than wheat, barley & corn.  The risk of gum diesease reduces itself as we increase the consumption of whole grain. Just 5g of quinoa on a regular basis are enough to help prevent periodontal diesease.
