Furthermore it is also recommended to lighten the kidney functions by reducing all the foods rich in fat like red meat, gluten like cereals, whereas rice & millet should be preferred. All drinks that can cause an increase in blood pressure must be avoided such as; coffee, tea, guarana, choclate & all energy drinks.
Here is a reminder of the foods rich in potassium:
- bananas, apricots, citrus fruits, figs, prunes, grapes, kiwi;
- tomatoes
- asparagus, broccoli, artichokes, cabbages, spinach, endive, rocket salad, lettuce,
- potatoes,
- soy & legumes,
- fish,
- whole grain cereals,
- chicken,
- nuts like; pistacchioes, almonds, peanuts, walnuts & hazelnuts.
Recent studies have also proved the effectiveness of YOGA even for hypertension cases, it infact seems that a constant practice helps reduce the pressure in very little time & this is due to its prevention action & effectiveness both on the nervous & cardiovascular systems. Obviously there are some recommended positions & others that must be absolutely avoided such as the following positions: Jalandhara Bandha & Uddhyana Bandha, as well as Kumbaka. On the other hand all the breathing exercises together with meditation are all excellent.
Furthermore also walking, swimming, cycling, excursions & other outdoor activities are great but only if done regularly, it has also been proven that practicing regular physical activity between 18 & 30 years of age reduces the possibility of developing hypertension in the following 15 years.
