How to fight cold with natural remedies.
Every change of season brings with it a little bit of ailments, especially in autumn were we are all with a red nose, sore throat and contiunously runny nose.
Which are the best natural remedies against the seasonal cold?
A cold can be for some can be really annoying and to alleviate the symptoms as soon as possible is the only thing we think of, lets see some natural remedies.
FUMIGATIONS WITH ESSENTIAL OILS
Our grandmothers had their methods and amongst these also the famous fumigations which are of very little use if not done with specific essential oils and therefore without forgetting the towel on the head, you will need approximately 5-10 drops of Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus essential oil for 1 pot of boiling water, you can also do a mixture of both.
Ginger Herbal tea
Ginger has become famous for its qualities and a nice cup of Ginger tea helps to alleviate the nasal congestion by reducing inflammation of the mucous membranes and helping to free the nasal cavities. Not only can you drink the herbal tea but you can and must also breathe the vapours that it releases.

Balm FOR THE CHEST
We all know the famous balm that we find in the pharmacy, ancient and perfumed, infact applying a balsamic compound on the chest relieves the symptoms of the common cold and we can make one at home that is completely natural. We must take a half cup of coconut oil (corresponding to 120 ml), 15 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil and an airtight container. As an alternative to the Coconut oil (which solidifies at low temperatures) you can use the Shea Butter. By dissolving in a bain-marie the coconut oil or shea butter than mix with the essential oil, and stir well, but only when the oil or butter you has completely dissolved the essential oil must be added and mixed well, allow to cool so that it can thicken a bit. When it would have thickened a bit you may rub it on your chest just as you would do with the one bought in the pharmacy.
Hot water bottle
Another famous grandma’s remedy, which implies wrapping the hot water bottle in a soft cloth, for example one made from flannel. You can lie down with the hot water bottle placed behind your back in order to warm you up a little and alleviate the symptoms.
Ginger syrup
Here once again our beloved and useful ginger, in fact it is also possible to make a syrup out of it. Boil on low heat for about 30 minutes in a cup of water, two teaspoons of fresh ground ginger. Add 120 grams of honey and cook until the mixture thickens and gets the typical consistency of syrup, as soon as it cools you can drink a spoonful or add it to a nice cup of tea preferably black tea.
Sage Gargle
If in addition to a runny nose you also have a sore throat, maybe a little reddened, then we must also take care of it and we can always do this with excellent gargles.
You will need :
240 ml of apple vinegar
4 tablespoons dried sage or 8 tablespoons of fresh sage,
1 teaspoon salt
240 ml of water and 1 jar with lid at of at least 500 ml in capacity.
Bring to a boil the water and prepare an infusion with the sage (i.e. pour boiling water on the sage, cover and leave for 15 minutes). Drain the infusion by separating the liquid from the sage. Leave to cool and mix the infusion of sage with the apple vinegar. Put it into the jar which you can store in the refrigerator for up to a week. Do gargle 2 or 3 times a day.
