- Ginger: At the first symptoms of a sore throat take a piece of fresh or candied ginger this shall help to relief the annoying sensation.
- Apple vinegar: Apple vinegar has numerous natural Antibacterial properties. It can be used in small quantities in a hot drink or in a normal glass of water, to relieve the inflammation of the throat. It can also be used to carry out fumigations, adding a couple of tablespoons in a pot of boiling water, or gargles, mixing a teaspoon of apple vinegar in a glass of water at room temperature.
- Summer savory: The summer savory is an officinal plant which belongs to the family of the Laminaceae, whose leaves are collected in addition to the cuisine also for their usefulness in the treatment of certain illnesses, such as the sore throat. You can prepare an infusion of summer savory to make useful gargles against sore throat. 4 grams of dried summer savory must be used for every 100 millilitres of water, than put in infusion in boiling water. The liquid is filtered and left to cool before being used as mouthwash or gargles.
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon is an excellent remedy mainly in the form of herbal tea and it is a natural antibacterial.
- Lemon: The lemon, has a natural antibacterial action and can be useful to disinfect the oral cavity and to carry out gargles in the case of sore throat. You could also try to carry out a gargle with water to which you have added a few drops of lemon juice.

- Liquorice: Liquorice is considered one of the best natural remedies against the sore throat. Chewing liquorice sticks can be useful in helping the throat reduce inflammation and relieve the pain. It can be used in combination with bay leaves for the preparation of a healing infusion for the sore throat.
- Essential oil of eucalyptus: The essential oil of eucalyptus is rich in Eucalyptus, i.e. a substance with remarkable germicidal properties. Using the essential oil of eucalyptus is recommended in case of sore throat and cold for making fumigations by pouring three or four drops in a litre of boiling water. The essential oil of eucalyptus can also be used for the treatment of sore throat diluting one or two drops in a glass of warm water to gargle with twice a day.
- Fenugreek: Greek Hay is a medicinal plant used since ancient times to treat sore throat. The fenugreek has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the preparation of a decoction, using about 12 grams per 250 millilitres of water. Once warmed, the decoction is perfect for gargling.
- Sage: Sage is an aromatic plant we normally use in the kitchen but it also has natural bactericidal properties. With the dried leaves of sage, in fact we can prepare an infusion to drink two or three times a day, using two teaspoons of sage per cup. This infusion encloses antibacterial and also digestive properties.
- Propolis: Propolis is a resinous resin produced by bees. It is collected from plants and then transformed by the bees by using the wax, pollen and enzymes. It is therefore such a completely and extremely useful product for our organism that all the remedies for the sore throat such sweets or spray nowadays are for the most part based on propolis.
- Echinacea: Echinacea is a natural remedy to keep always at home in the form of herbal tea or herbal remedy, it serves mainly to prevent cough, sore throat, flu and colds, hence a good idea is to assume it already starting from Autumn just as prevention.
