Recipes with oats milk

Meanwhile, oats milk, unlike cow’s milk, is artificially produced by processing hulled oats: its preparation is very simple and can also be done at home, but it is also easily available on the market.

It is a completely vegetable based food and this makes it particularly suitable for those who follow a vegan diet and, moreover, being lactose-free, it can also be consumed by lactose intolerant people, as a valid alternative to cow’s milk.

Oats milk is very light: it has about 45 kcal per litre (compared to about 65 kcal for cow’s milk) and is completely cholesterol-free.

It is quite versatile and can be used in both sweet and savory recipes.

RECIPES WITH OATS MILK

OAT AND BANANA SMOOTHIE

Let’s start with the simplest way, which is to combine oats milk with something tasty such as banana.

Blend half a banana with oats milk to obtain a very sweet and creamy smoothie. Those who prefer an even sweeter beverage can add some sugar, but if you use a very ripe banana there will be no need and in any case always prefer natural sweeteners.

COCOA CAKE WITH OATS MILK

Ingredients:

280 gr of soft wheat flour

50 gr of bitter cocoa (organic is better)

130 gr of cane sugar

300 ml of oats milk

80 ml of seed oil

1 sachet of baking powder for cakes

METHOD:

– Put the sifted flour and cocoa in a large bowl, then add the sugar and baking powder.

– Pour in the oil and milk and mix all the ingredients for a couple of minutes, using an electric mixer.

– Turn on the oven set to 180 ° C and while it heats up, grease and flour a 24 cm mold with a hinge and pour the dough into it (for a 100% vegan version: use margarine or oil for the mold).

– Place in the oven and cook in static oven mode for 30 minutes. Do the toothpick test to be sure that the cake is cooked: if it comes out dry, the cake is ready. – Take the cake out of the oven, let it cool and then remove it from the mold.

It keeps well for a couple of days if closed in an airtight container.
