THE VEGETABLE SOUP DIET!

What is the vegetable soup diet how does it work, pros and cons!

Lately we hear talking more and more about the vegetable soup diet and the latter is advertised as a hypocaloric diet that helps to lose weight quickly without having to waste too much time and being too hungry.
All this thanks to the “minestrone” soup, prepared with vegetables. The most widespread recipe includes amongst its ingredients; garlic, onion, green peppers, tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms, parsley and cabbage.
The soup having a limited calorie content (about 45 Kcal per 100 grams), gives a satisfying effect such as to allow you to quickly reach the goal to lose 5 kg in one week and at the same time detoxify your organism.

Will it be true? What are the pros and cons?

We at styleoga® are in favour of a varied, balanced diet that rather than a diet is almost a nutritional education as we explain well in the ANTI-DIET, but lets see precisely what are the advantages and disadvantages of the famous vegetable soup diet.

The vegetable soup diet consists of a weekly plan in which the vegetable soup is always present both at lunch and dinner.
The prohibited foods are:

Fried, sweets, flour, spirits, coffee and other stimulating drinks while bananas and grapes must be excluded only in the first days.
All the rest can be put at table, obviously vegetables especially spinach, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes or beets and even some food of animal origin. The fruit is used to reduce hunger, the first and the third day of the slimming week.
The vegetable soup diet consists of a breakfast and snack with a basis of tea, centrifuges of vegetables, skimmed or soy milk, fruit or fruit juices without added sugars.
With regards to lunch and dinner the consumption of the vegetable soup alone or combined with raw or steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, fruit, lean meat, fish, rice or mixed salad, is recommended, obviously limiting considerably the dressings.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE VEGETABLE SOUP DIET?

The vegetable soup diet can really help you lose weight by reducing the intake of calories, considering that the soup contains little calories but is very filling.
Moreover soups seem to be more satiating compared to solid foods also because they are liquid. A recent scientific study has shown that starting a meal with a soup reduces hunger, increases the feeling of fullness and can reduce the amount of food and calories consumed during that meal.

This effect is also due to the fibres of which these vegetables are rich in that help feel satiated by increasing the stretching of the stomach walls, slowing gastric emptying and influencing the production of hormones that control the satiety.

WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES OF THE VEGETABLE SOUP DIET?

The vegetable soup diet is totally unbalanced from the nutritional point of view. There are in fact not all the macro and micro nutrients necessary for the organism. Every day we should assume energy coming from 45-60% of carbohydrates, 20-35% from lipids and the remaining part from protein for a total of about 0.9 g per kg of body weight.
The vegetable soup diet is poor both in complex carbohydrates and protein. Moreover the recipes for the preparation of the soup may be too rich in sodium. This type of diet also carries a lot of flatulence and not giving all the nutrients to the organism, this weakens and especially the lost kilos could be all resumed very quickly.
